The health department is able to issue temporary Medicaid cards to pregnant women who are financially eligible. The temporary Medicaid card will only pay for routine prenatal care for a period of up to 60 days while the client is awaiting determination of Medicaid eligibility. The card will be issued at the time of application if the applicant is eligible.
